Queensland Nomination and Occupations List for 2018

Queensland State Nomination and Skilled Occupation Lists (QSOL)

Business and Skilled Migration Queensland (BSMQ) is the state nominating body for the Queensland Government and a business unit of Trade and Investment Queensland (TIQ). In partnership with the Department of Home Affairs, BSMQ nominates successful skilled and business applicants wanting to establish themselves in Queensland.

Benefits of seeking state nomination  Watch for a minute - https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=16&v=9cw-OSxhTes

Nomination by the State of Queensland will provide:

  • priority processing of your visa with the Department of Home Affairs.
  • an additional 5 points for a Skilled Nominated (Permanent) visa (subclass 190) towards the Department of Home Affairs points test
  • an additional 10 points for a Skilled Regional (Provisional) visa (subclass 489) towards the Department of Home Affairs points test
  • the same work rights as an Australian citizen. You’ll be an independent migrant not tied to a single employer.

Queensland offers a high standard of living and good working conditions including:

  • safe working conditions
  • high minimum wages
  • entitlements including public holidays and leave.

The Queensland Skilled Occupation Lists (QSOL) reflect the current labour demand for positions throughout Queensland. Check the category applicable to your current situation to see if your profession is in demand in Queensland and ensure that you meet any specialisations and work experience requirements.

There are additional requirements against particular occupations on our lists, which may include a job offer, registration and work experience in specialised fields. Please do not submit an EOI if you do not meet the additional requirements (if applicable) as specified against your occupation.

Please note: you must obtain a valid Skills Assessment (mandatory) and registration (where applicable) prior to lodging your EOI.

Please see the below for the occupations removed from our QSOL:

If you have an occupation on our QSOL, please also ensure you meet the rest of BSMQ’s criteria:

Note 1: Applicants must have five years experience post qualification in their nominated occupation and a job offer for a full time position in their nominated occupation with a Queensland employer registered in Australia. Queensland is seeking specific ICT skills and work experience in relation to one or more of the following: cyber security, data scientist, data and business analytics and ICT development and architecture. (The 2017-18 QSOL will also place a specific Queensland ceiling of 200 on nominations for ICT occupations across onshore, alumni and offshore programs).

Your ACS skills assessment will state what date your skilled work experience is recognised from – for example:

The following employment after December 2011 is considered to equate to work at an appropriately skilled level and relevant to 313113 (Web Administrator) of the ANZSCO Code.

Please ensure you check this date before claiming work experience points on your SkillSelect EOI. If you claim work experience points prior to this date listed on your skills assessment, your state nomination application will be refused due to points being incorrectly claimed. For more information, please refer to Migration Skills Assessment on the ACS website.

Note 2: Engineers  – applicants must have registration with the Board of Engineers Queensland (BPEQ).

Note 3: Applicants must have 6 years experience working in their chosen field and a job offer for a full time position in their nominated occupation with a Queensland employer registered in Australia.
