Philippine Colleges, Universities Recognized in New Zealand

If you are a graduate (diploma, degree holder of any of the college or universities listed below, then your qualification is considered as the equivalent of a New Zealand degree. As explained below, you may then pursue further education or apply for skilled migration (permanent residency) without the need for assessment by the New Zealand Qualification Authority.

List of Qualifications Exempt from Assessment

(Provided as public service and part of our immigrant advocacy).

Effective August 28, 2018, the qualifications in this list do not require assessment by the New Zealand Qualifications Authority (NZQA) if the following conditions are met:

  • The qualification is listed in the ACademic Qualifications Table (the first table)
  • The awarding institution is listed in the Awarding Institutions Table (the second table)
  • The qualification was awarded from or within the year range of the Awarding Institution Table;
  • The qualification is not excluded by the notes under the Academic Qualifications Table.

The List of Qualifications Exempt from Assessment only provides the level that an overseas qualification occupies on the NZQF. Qualifications on the List of Qualifications Exempt from Assessment does not mean that it is comparable to a similarly named New Zealand qualification. It only advises the NZQF level that the overseas qualification can be compared to.

The List of Qualifications Exempt from Assessment is for immigration purposes only. It has no bearing on the status of the qualification for professional registration, further study, salary or employment purposes in New Zealand.

Do you have a teaching qualification and a degree in Education? To enter the teaching profession in New Zealand, your academic credentials must be assessed by the NZQA for teacher registration and salary purposes.

If you believe your qualification is higher than the NZQF Level (third column of the first table), then you should apply to NZQA for an International Qualification Assessment or IQA.
