What’s Up Down Under.

Australia’s economy has weathered the slowdown in mining but the telecoms sector, retail, arts and recreation showed robust growth.

“The major contribution to economic growth this quarter came from household final consumption expenditure, which contributed 0.4 percentage points, and public gross fixed capital formation, which contributed 0.2 percentage points to GDP growth,” the Australian Bureau of Statistics said.

Australia’s Commerce Secretary Economist Craig James said Australia’s economy was now one of the fastest growing economies in the developed world.

This year, the Department of Immigration and Border Protection (DIBP) has set 128,550 permanent residency places in the skilled stream including 28,550 for workers to be nominated by a State or Territory.

South Australia

What does South Australia have to say for itself?

It is “a state defined by extreme wilderness, including a Southern Ocean coastline lined by the sheer cliffs of the Great Australian Bight, the empty expanse of the Nullarbor Plain and the vast, inhospitable Outback desert. Its sedate capital, Adelaide, nicknamed “City of Churches” for its history of religious diversity, is neighbored by the vineyards of the Barossa Valley.

Adelaide – the capital city- is “an explosion of cultures, flavors, events, entertainment and experiences. It’s a pleasant mix of perfect weather; amazing food and wine; beaches within easy reach; a wealth of street art; a deep sense of culture and entertainment; and festivals and events all year round.”
