After an uptick in the 7th Draw, Citizenship and Immigration Canada set the lowest threshold for permanent residency candidates back to 453

Express Entry's 8th Draw Back to Lowest Threshold

After an uptick on the minimum threshold of points for Candidates to be invited for permanent residency through Express Entry earlier this month (April 10, 2015), Citizenship and Immigration Canada set the cut-off points to 453, the same threshold set during the sixth draw.

The threshold was set higher on the 7th draw to 469 although there were fewer invitations issued than the last three preceding draws.  Please see the Express Entry draws, invitations issued and thresholds in the table, below.

The eighth draw covered the period beginning on April 17 to April 18, 2015.  Completed candidate profiles stay in the pool for one year. Applicants not issued invitations to apply must submit a new Express Entry profile to be eligible for the draws.

The completed profiles of eligible candidates are ranked according to a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) where top ranked candidates are issued invitations, priority being given from those with highest ranking points to the lowest (minimum or threshold). The threshold for April 18, 2015 was 453.

On a positive note (for Candidates), the 8th draw once more issued invitations to candidates who did not have a qualifying job offer from a Canadian employer or a provincial nomination at the time of selection.

Candidates in the Express Entry pool must be eligible for one of the following federal economic immigration programs: the Federal Skilled Worker Program, the Federal Skilled Trades Program, and the Canadian Experience Class.

Candidates invited to apply for permanent residence have 60 days to submit a complete e-application. CIC assures completion of processing within 6 months – or earlier – of receiving the complete application.
