From a high of 886 points needed to be invited to apply for Canadian permanent residency since the new selection system (Express Entry) started in January 2015, the last draw on July 17, 2015 has the lowest minimum points needed to be invited – 451.

That is good news.

An above-average profile of a Filipino applicant, however, is still 105 points short.

The potential applicant (above) would have obtained a Master’s degree before turning 29 years old, had been working for at least 3 years; got a score of 7.0 in the speaking, reading, writing components of the IELTS exam; married to a partner who has at least a bachelor’s degree and obtained an overall band score of 7 in the IELTS exam.

If either of them had studied or worked in Canada for at least a year and enhanced the chance of getting a job offer or nomination by a Canadian province, (each factor of which would have added 600 points boosting the total points to 946) then our Filipino couple would have more points necessary to be invited to apply for permanent residency.

Have a nice weekend, Friends and Kavisas.  Check the history of the draws and selections, below.
