Best news first.

For professionals and other skilled and semi-skilled workers in the EB3 and OW (Employment-based 3d Preference and Other Workers) - this category moved 7 years and 4 months in a year's time. That's fast.

In April 2014 the cut-off date was June 15, 2007. For April (next month) this year, those with petitions filed on or before October 1, 2014 will be scheduled for immigrant visa interview - assuming they have all the documents properly completed, correct fees paid and no discrepancies in their documents establishing eligibility for the classification.

For the F1 category, there's reason to be furious but only because it did not move at all this month. The silver lining behind this dark cloud is that this category moved 3 years and 3 months from last year.

Do not wait for the National Visa Center, the U.S. Citizenship or Immigration Services of the U.S. Embassy to notify you of visa availability date and interview schedule.

You should initiate the process yourself and check the Visa Bulletin religiously. And remember - you are instructed to appoint a representative to assist you with the visa processing from National Visa Center (NVC) to the Embassy stage. If you had been notified of visa availability and failed to show up for the interview, your visa and petition revoked.
