How Fast Will Visa Dates Move in the Coming Months?

Visa processing times move forward and backward (retrogress). That’s because there is a set annual quota for Family and Employment-based categories. Then there is the per-country limit.

Since there are more – much, much more visa applicants than there are visas available – waiting for the visa interview schedule takes years (22 years in the case of brother to sister or sibling to sibling petition, F4 category)

It is, therefore, imp.ortant to have an idea of when your probable visa interview schedule would be so that you can adequately prepare for that interview you have been waiting for – for years.

The Visa Office recently published its prediction on how fast (or slow) visa priority dates will move in the coming months.

FAMILY-sponsored categories (potential monthly movement)

Worldwide dates:

Employment-Based (potential monthly movement)

EB-1 Current

EB-2:

EB-3:

Worldwide: This cut-off date has been advanced extremely rapidly during the past seven months in an effort to generate new demand. As the rate of applicants who are able to have action on their cases finalized increases, it could have a significant impact on the cut-off date situation. The rapid forward movement of this cut-off date should not be expected to continue beyond February.

EB-4: Current

EB-5: Current

The above projections for the Family and Employment categories are - estimates of what is likely to happen during each of the next few months based on several factors (see related article ("Experiencing (Not Dreaming of) White Christmas).
