DS 260 Immigrant Visa Form Online

US Immigrant Visa Applications Now Online

Better practice your keyboarding and completion of forms on the web - now!

The U.S. Department of State announced that effective September 1, 2013, immigrant visa applicant must use the DS-260, Online Immigrant Visa Application & Registration, and DS-261, Choice of Address and Agent instead of the paper-based DS-230, Application for Immigrant Visa and Alien Registration (parts I and II) and the DS-3032, Choice of Address and Agent.

Like the DS 160 Nonimmigrant Visa Application, the new DS-260 and DS-261 are fully integrated online electronic visa application forms.  This means answers on any fields are cross-checked with answers within the form.

Once you click to submit the form, there is no turning back.  It is critical and essential that your answers tally with or are consistent with the information provided in other forms that you and the petitioner have completed and submitted such as:  The I-130 Petition for Alien Relative filed with the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, the I-864 Affidavit of Support by the Petitioner.

Previous visa applications with the US Embassy and previous visits to the U.S. are also essential and critical information that you need to provide.  Non-disclosure of previous visa refusal could subject you to permanent inadmissibility or entry into the United States.

As for the DS 26 Agent Appointment, be advised that the Agent's responsibility extends to just completing the form. The designated agent is as responsible as the applicant for any misrepresentation or non-disclosure.  And,  non-compliance with or omission of documents are likely to delay the visa application process.  In fact, the US Embassy website in previous announcements stated that one of the main reasons for refusal is improper completion of forms, especially the i-864 Affidavit of Support.

The following announcement from the National Visa Center is being published at no cost for the benefit of our Friends and the Immigrant Public.

The DS-260, Online Immigrant Visa Application & Registration, and DS-261, Choice of Address and Agent, are fully integrated online electronic visa application forms used to collect the necessary application information from persons seeking immigrant visas. These online forms are completed and submitted online to the Department of State via the Internet through the Consular Electronic Applications Center (CEAC). The forms may be partially completed, saved online to finish, and submitted later; or the forms can be completed and submitted in a single session.
