If you have a child - legitimate or not - it is advisable that you include the child's name on your immigrant visa application. On the other hand, if a child (of your relative, friend) is in your custody, do not claim the child as your own. Otherwise you could be charged with fraud.

If you have not yet received an interview date and your priority date is already current - or about to be - it's time to contact the National Visa Center. Be sure you have your case number which starts with MNL. An interview date will not be scheduled unless you have paid the visa fees for each applicant and the petitioner has submitted the I-864 Affidavit of Support.
