Course Delivery

Fanshawe College offers this graduate certificate gerontology program at its London campus. There are two terms to the program with each term being 15 weeks.

Like many programs, you will have to attend classroom lectures as well as:

• Complete a 200-hour interprofessional field placement within a community organization.
• Take part in an associated capstone project research and paper by the end of the academic year.

Entry Criteria for Gerontology-Interprofessional Practice at Fanshawe College

You must meet some conditions to be eligible to enroll in this Graduate Certificate Gerontology-Interprofessional Practice. 

• Academic and professional experience.
  • A two- or three-year college diploma, or a degree. Your studies may be in social, or healthcare fields or allied health studies.
  • A combination of work experience and post-secondary education. Fanshawe College will check your credentials if acceptable.
  • Five years of work experience in the health or human services industry. Fanshawe College will check your work experience for equivalency to a diploma or degree.
• A resume and cover letter if the college asks for the documents
• Proof of English competency.
  • For now, Filipino citizens do not have to submit the result of an English language exam. But, if you plan to apply under the Student Direct Stream, you must get at least 6.0 in all bands of the IELTS.
  • If English is not your first language and you are applying under the regular stream, you may take any of the following exams. You should take the tests within the last two years of your application.
    • Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) test with a score of at least 88 for the Internet-based test (iBT)s.
    • International English Language Testing System (IELTS) Academic test with an overall score of 6.5. All four bands should be at least 6.0
    • Canadian Academic English Language (CAEL) test with an overall score of 70. All four bands should be at least 60.
    • Pearson Test of English Academic (PTE). You must get at least 59.
    • A Cambridge English Test (FCE/CAE/CPE) with a total score on the Cambridge English Scale of 176. You should score at least 169 for all language skills.
