Do you want to start a new career in Accounting but don't know where to start?

Course Delivery

This MSc International Accounting Practice program is comprehensive and requires significant student participation and engagement.  You will be required to:

  • Participate in Induction Week;
  • Sit through lectures for 9 taught modules over two semesters;
  • Undergo 20 credits for accounting placement.

This course consists of traditional classroom-based lectures across two semesters.  You may have to spend up to three hours preparing and studying for each hour of lectures.

Your assessment will be made from:

  • Formal, end-of-semester written examinations;
  • Individual and group presentations;
  • Case-study analysis;
  • In class examination;
  • In class contribution.

Intake Dates :

The  next intake date is September 10, 2018.

IVC will be accepting applications only until APRIL 5, 2018.  This 5-month preparation period includes, among others:

  • Review by the UCC department/school for your eligibility;
  • Processing by the Admissions Office;
  • Enrollment;
  • Processing of insurance;
  • Payment of tuition fee;
  • Payment and processing of your education bond;
  • Seeking accommodation;
  • Processing of your student visa application.

It is important to apply early as this course may be over-subscribed. Please note the following protocol:

  • If you meet the application requirements but the course is full, you will be placed on the waiting list. You will be given priority over later applicants.
  • If the course has not been filled in the first round, or by the first round waiting list or your application is successful, you will receive an offer or a conditional offer.
  • If you meet the application requirements but the course is full, you will be placed on the waiting list.

Make sure you apply early!  We allow two month to coordinate with the university, arrange accommodation, insurance, pay your tuition fee, and process your education bond.  The next three months is reserved for the visa application process. 



Entry Criteria

Admission and entry requirements for this qualification are in accordance with the academic regulations of University College Cork.  As an international student, you must meet the following eligibility requirements:

  • Academic Achievement. You must have attained at least 2H2 studies with a GPA of 3.25 out of 4.00 or NFQ Level 8 equivalent.

  • A Personal Statement with a minimum of 200 words.
  • English Language Proficiency.  If English is not your native language, you must provide proof of English language proficiency to a standard of any ONE of the following exams:
    • IELTS (Academic Test): Overall band score of 6.5 with no individual section less than 5.5
    • TOEFL iBT: Overall score of 90. Minimum scores per section are as follows:  Listening and Writing 17; Speaking 20; Reading 18.
    • Cambridge Proficiency Exam: Grade C
    • Cambridge Advanced Exam: Grade B
    • Pearson PTE: Minimum score of 63 with no section score below 59.
  • You are required to complete a full application for the program AND satisfy all other entry criteria as required by the program team and provide such evidence as required by the university, including, but not limited to:

    • Photocopy of your birth certificate or passport
