About This Program

This program is the first of its kind in Canada. It is an innovative, in-demand program that will equip you with specialized skills you can market immediately to business, industry, government, consultants and environmental associations.

It is also nationally accredited by ECO Canada for excellence in curriculum in compliance with the Canadian National Occupational Standards (NOS). Graduates with relevant experience can seek EP (Environmental Professional) certification through ECO Canada.

  • Niagara-on-the-Lake Campus boasts 46 hectares (113 acres) which include ecological “living labs” acting as environmental monitoring facilities.
  • The School of Horticultural and Environmental Studies offers this program with a faculty team having a combined total of over 60 years of environmental experience.
  • Industry internships / projects provide practical experience (1 day per week for 12 weeks).
  • Graduates with relevant experience can seek EP (Environmental Professional) certification through ECO Canada.

Course Delivery

This program is offered a the Niagara-on-the-Lake Campus of this academic institution.  This program also has a Industry internships / projects component that provides practical experience for 1 day per week for 12 weeks. 

Please note that students are responsible for their own transportation in order to complete practical lab requirements. Niagara College cannot guarantee locations that are readily accessible by public transportation. Students are responsible for all costs connected with such transportation.

Intake Dates :

There are two intake dates per year and these are in:

  • January
  • September

Make sure you check with us first since Start Dates and Term Breaks may vary.  Beginning an application 6 months in advance of the intake date will allow you a lot of time to prepare for the visa application. With two intake dates though, you'll have plenty of time to prepare!



Entry Criteria

Admission and entry requirements for this qualification are in accordance with the academic regulations.  You must comply with the following requirements

  • Ontario College Diploma in Environmental Technician/Technology; Ecosystem Management Technician/Technology OR
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Biology; Botany; Earth Sciences; Ecology; Environmental and Resources Studies/Management; Environmental Science/ Technology; Wildlife; Zoology; OR
  • Submit a cover letter and resume outlining an acceptable combination of environmental work experience and postsecondary education (as determined by the College)
  • Proof of English proficiency.  As an international student, you must be able to demonstrate a level of English competency. You must therefore meet the minimum scores in ANY of the following tests:
    • IELTS (Academic Test) 6.5 overall band score with no individual band under 5.5
    • Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL)
      • Paper: 550, TESL 600
      • Computer: 213, TESL 250
      • iBT: 79 - 80minimum, 22 writing, 22 Speaking
